Batya Gelfand 

Organizational Manager

As the sole employee of NorCal Solar, Batya works closely with the Board of Directors. Her responsibilities include: event production, member communication and outreach, strategic planning, graphic design, marketing, newsletters, email campaigns, database management, administration, and volunteer recruitment and supervision.

Batya has more than 25 years of experience as an event producer, marketer/publicist, writer/editor, community builder and volunteer/project manager -- working both in politics and for a variety of non-profits tackling societal and environmental issues. In addition to serving as NorCal Solar's Organizational Manager, she currently works part time as Assistant Director of Bay Area Green Tours, and for Kehilla Community Synagogue as their Development and Communications Associate. 

Batya and her husband Scott own The Buddy Club Children's Showsthe Bay Area's longest-running shows for families. Previously she worked as a legislative aide for Congresswoman Barbara Lee. For over ten years her focus was citizen diplomacy and economic development for Russia, working with the Center for Citizen Initiatives, and she has served as a board member and events producer for the Sustainable Business Alliance.

Batya attended Williams College and has a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley. She is the proud mom of Rose and Talia, and lives with her family in the hills above Richmond. For fun she enjoys aerial dance, gardening, hiking, biking and singing with friends. She also volunteers for Upswing Aerial Dance, a dance company based in West Berkeley.
